India is now one year older. Back to India Day. The whole thing was a
success. Many people (no names) worked very hard for the children's
room to be succesful and it worked. The decorations looked amazing and
there were new activities which everyone enjoyed such as bowling and
"make a visor". There was also, as usual, a movie area, cotton candy,
food, the lollipop game and a raffle. The IYG raffle was a big success
as well. The prizes were a disc shooter set, a sidewalk chalk set, a
swirl-paint activity set, a rainbow kite and a driveway tennis set. In
addition, there was also a drawing contest. The question was "What does
India mean to you". The first place drawing won $20 and the second
place won $10. The whole day, all-in-all, was a great success.

Hampton Beach is this WEDNESDAY! Remember that if you are coming, you
must have the parental consent form signed and with you before you get
onto the bus. You must be there at 1045 am, and the trip will be even
better if you invite your friends (non-indians as well).
About the IYG:
The Indian Youth Group is exactly what the name is, a youth group for
Indian teens. We are guided by our advisor, Shri Garg and together, we
do charity work such as volunteering at food shelters during
Thanksgiving, volunteering at places that give gifts to children who
can't get them through other means, Christmas caroling, and most
importantly, we have fun doing it. In past years, the IYG has also
participated in Project Bread's Walk for Hunger, which raises money for
food shelters to feed hungry children and families, in and around
Boston. We also organize and run Showcase India, which is an annual,
cultural show, where performers and dancers from all over Massachusetts
display their abilities on stage, in front of friends and family. Not
only do we do charity work and fundraising, we also have fun. We go on
trips every summer to various places, such as 6 flags or Hampton Beach.
Also in the summer, we perform the finale dance at ISW's India Day
celebration, which celebrates the Indian Independence Day. For more
information about ISW, please click here.
